We offer handy tips for encouraging children to enjoy eating better with fun and delicious salad ideas. Do you know a salad that your kids just love? Or do you have a tried-and-tested suggestion? If so, let us know!
Salading Tips:
- Let your child help decide, prepare and serve the salad!
- Create a fun design on the plate, perhaps in the shape of a clown’s face.
- Children often like crunchy vegetables in a salad.
- Carrot slices, cherry tomatoes and freshly cut sweet bell peppers (capscium) make easy snacks for break time or after school.
- Try adding pineapple to a salad or top with some crumbled feta - combinations of sweet and savoury make food more interesting.
- Introduce young children to new flavours by adding a little at a time into your salads.
- Grow your own vegetables and ask your child to help you. Nothing beats the taste of a home-grown salad!
- Set a good example and show how much you enjoy eating salads with lots of vegetables!
