How to recognise a Sweet Palermo by its appearance

What should I look out for when buying Sweet Palermo? You can recognize real Sweet Palermo by their twist - they are slightly twisted at the neck. Sweet Palermo fruits are not evenly smooth, but have a curvy shape with pretty dents. When buying, make sure that the fruits have a nice, shiny skin without any damage. Don't be alarmed by the dark spots that sometimes appear on the fruit. This is a sign that the pepper is still ripening and will become even sweeter.

No opportunity to enjoy your fresh bought sweet pointed peppers immediately? Keep them tasty by storing at a temperature in between 8-12 degrees. As refrigerators are normally colder look for a good place elsewhere like a shed or cellar. Missing out on such a spot? Better store them warmer on your kitchen counter instead of colder. As dehydration is the mean reason for peppers to lose shelf life, keep them in a plastic bag with some small holes. This will extend shelf life considerable.
