Grower / producer
'I love the freshness, colour, and crispness of salads. They are nutritious and complement any meal perfectly', says Carmen Duncan whilst husband Neil laughingly agrees, ‘Yes, and you don’t have to cook them’.
‘Growing your own vegetables is a natural and healthy thing to do. We enjoy connecting with people and sharing our professional knowledge on how to grow the best herbs and vegetables. The greatest satisfaction I have is the feedback from our repeat customers who enthusiastically express the joy and success they have by growing our plants at their own home. I’d encourage anyone to give it a go’, said Carmen.
‘The Salanova range of lettuce is one of my favourites. Salanova lettuce leaves grow in attractive rosette formations. The colours, flavours and smooth textures of these baby-sized mature leaves make them special. All you need is one cut for an instant salad!’ said Carmen.
Vegetable growing is firmly ingrained into Carmen’s DNA. Born and raised on the vegetable farm, Carmen couldn’t imagine life without growing vegetables. Her husband, Neil, is also an avid plant enthusiast and both enjoy the outdoors immensely. Carmen completed a degree in Applied Science Horticulture whilst Neil completed his degree in Science Biology. They both worked in the vegetable wholesale seedling family business, and in 2001, they formed Patio Plants, specialising in growing and providing robust, good tasting vegetable and herb plants for both wholesale and retail markets.
Patio Plants have a large selection of seasonal herb and vegetable plants as seedlings or in varying pot sizes and arrangements. They also grow and supply vegetable seedlings for commercial vegetable growers, selling directly to the home gardener at week-end markets within NSW.
