Cucumber - Cocktail

Introduction

Cocktail cucumbers are baby snacking cucumbers that are around 8cm in length and are very sweet and full of flavour. They are crunchy and convenient and are great for eating on their own as a healthy snack.

Preparation Tips

Cocktails being so small are mostly eaten whole. Their very sweet and almost addictive flavour is why they are so popular.

Rinse about 5 – 6 cucumbers, keeping both ends in tact and place in a small plastic container in a school lunch box, or take them to work for a snack.

Although small, they can still be used in salads. However you will need more of them. Cut in half down the middle, sideways and length ways and toss them in a salad.

Selection and storage

Cocktail cucumbers are most commonly found in a small plastic container in the supermarket. Make sure you still check their condition even when they are pre-packaged. To store, keep them in their container in the crisper section of the fridge.

Serving suggestions

Best eaten whole with both ends intact.
