Why do you love salad?
It’s great for every one working in Bladgrønt to know that they daily are producing clean and healthy food for a lot of people as good health is so essential to a good life. We love salad because it offers wonderful options to enjoy healthy food.

Gartneriet Bladgrønt is a 5 ha greenhouse, founded in 1976 by Gert and Hanne Larsen, located in the south of Køge, Denmark.

The nursery Bladgrønt produces whole head lettuce and different cabbage varieties. With beautiful, healthy fresh vegetables,

and the promise of sunny days, we look forward to enjoying a splendid salad lunch in the company of good friends.

Organic growing

Over the years Gert Larsen, has been developing methods of growing lettuce by using less and less chemicals and recognizing the soil as a living material which is enriched by the addition of organic materials. In 2009, he took the final step and started exclusively with an organic production. Customers in Denmark and Sweden are now enjoying a nice variety of special organic lettuces.

As the work with the organic production method progressed it turned out that the nursery also became a non-stock nursery – or almost - as the only fertilizer of stock origin is a bit of chicken manure for our seedlings. All other fertilizer is plant based and comes from lupine and alfalfa in combination with residues from beer and cocoa production.

Quality and hygiene

Quality and hygiene have always been one of Gert Larsen’s main priorities. He takes great pride in delivering customers a first-quality product: By including hygiene into every operation and by taking good care of the lettuce all the way to the customers dish, by perfect cooling and innovative packaging.
