- 2 medium or large sized tomatoes
- 200 g Mozzarella
- 8 basil leaves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- freshly ground pepper
- 20 ml balsamic vinegar (crema di balsamico)
- 20 ml olive oil
Wash the tomatoes and the basil in cold water.
Slice the tomatoes and the mozzarella into thin, uniform slices. There are various ways you can present your dish on the plate. You can chose if the mozzarella is placed on top of the tomato slices or whether you alternate the tomato slices with the mozzarella - is realy is just a matter of taste - and changes nothing on the excellent combination of mild cheese flavor and fruity tomato.
Finally, season with salt and pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The final touch with the fresh basil leaves is the distinguishing feature of this salad, as the taste combination with the other two ingredients makes the Caprese salad perfect.
